The Pine Ridge Middle School football team wrapped up their season on Halloween night with a 44-8 loss to the Brooklyn-Cayce C team.

The Yellow Jackets finished with a record was 2-6. Head coach Corey Holcombe and 8th grade players Foster Barrs and Presley Reaves all said the game against White Knoll Middle School was the highlight game of the season. The teams played a close, exciting game, but the Yellow Jackets pulled out a tough 8-6 win.

Foster said his favorite moments of the season were “when we got hyped before the games” by cheering, yelling, and chanting together. Presley said his favorite memories were when the team’s leaders “stepped up to show others when they didn’t know what to do.” The two boys were leaders on the team, according to Coach Holcombe, and both made the All-Conference team.

The team lost a lot of good players from last year’s team, but they learned to pull through and play without them. Coach Holcombe said he looks forward to next year’s 8th graders and seeing how they will progress. He mentioned Sebastian Sapp as a potential leader for next year’s team. Coach Holcombe said Sebastian was a productive player before being lost for the season to an arm injury.
